Q. How long are the CEU classes?

A. One hour apiece.

Q. After I complete my classes Online, how long before I receive my CEU forms?

A. In 3-5 business days.

Q. What happens if I go past my license/certificate renewal date?

A. You have an initial 30 day grace period. After the 30 days, but before 180 days you pay a late fee penalty (currently $50). After 180 days you lose your certification and must re-take the state exam again (very unpleasant and costly experience).

Q. How do I know when my certificate expires?

A. The expiration date is on your state issued I.D. card.

Q. How do I know for sure what certification I have?

A. Look on your state issued I.D. card.

Q. How can I find out if another person is state certified to apply pesticides?

Q. How can I find out if a company has a Pest Control license? (This is only good for pest control companies. It is not valid to check any of the Limited categories).

Q. I am a technician for a pest control company. What kind of training do I need for validating my I.D. card?

A. DACS requires 5 DAYS of initial FIELD TRAINING before they will even issue you an I.D. card, unless you have documented proof you already had it from a previous employer. You also are required to have FOUR HOURS OF INITIAL CLASSROOM TRAINING, within 6 months of hire, AND 2 HOURS annually thereafter. Our CORE classes are state certified for the CLASSROOM training.

Q. What license do I need to apply fertilizers?

A. Up until recently there was no license requirement to apply nutrient only fertilizers. Remember Weed & Feed and other pesticide containing fertilizers DO require a state license, most often the Commercial Lawn & Ornamental.
However, now several Florida counties are passing ordinances that require training and licensing. Check with your county occupational licensing or University of Florida County Extension office for the latest updates on this.

Q. I want to take the Pest Control certification exam. Do you offer that training?

A. YES! We have an excellent HOME STUDY and LIVE CLASS that will prepare you for GHP, L&O, or the TERMITE exam. We have a 100% passing ratio, most of who passed the first time.

Call Bob Kessler for details: 772-562-1442.

Q. I am a certified operator for a pest control company. Do I need to personally provide the technical training for my company employees?

A. No! You can use an authorized third party such as US, University of Florida, one of the state associations, etc.. However, the state does require you to be accessible to the company employees on a regular basis during regular business hours, meet mandated training requirements, maintain records, etc. To that end you are required to be a full time employee.

Q. What is a Restricted Use license?

A. Those licenses are issued by the Bureau of Compliance Monitoring (BCM) which is another division of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). Generally considered agriculture, they include Golf Courses, Parks, Cemeteries (Ornamental & Turf), Aquatics, Right of Way, Sod Growers, Nurseries, Farms, Citrus, etc.
This certification is required ONLY if applying EPA designated Restricted Use Pesticides (RUP). In other words they can apply basically any non-restricted use product to the above sites with no training or certification other than what the label provides.

Q. What is a Restricted Use pesticide, and how come?

A. RUPs are so designated by the EPA to limit access and application to Certified Applicators or under their supervision only. This designation is usually associated with particularly toxic products such as fumigants, or those products that may be harmful to the environment.

Q. How can I access the laws and rules that pertain to Florida pesticide applicators?

A. Click on this link. It is a cumbersome and bulky navigator; however all the information you require is there.
